The 4th Annual Big Scrub Gravel Buzz ventures into the world’s largest contiguous sand pine scrub on March 16, 2019. Riders will experience paved, chipseal, lime rock, grass, red dirt roads, and a bit of gravel here and there as they pass by the Ocklawaha River, wet prairies, swamps, and dense hammocks of palms, long-leaf pine and live oaks. The 58 mile, “Hawg Leg”, and the 95 mile, “Whole Hawg” follow the same route for the first 30 miles and the final 24 miles.
All riders of any ability are encouraged to enjoy sights cyclists rarely get a chance to see on roads less traveled by automobiles. This is a Charity ride benefiting the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer – Ocala.
