|About This Event|
The 23rd Annual Florida Tour De Force (FLTDF) Law Enforcement charity bicycle ride is set to kick off April 20th, 2020 in North Miami Beach, FL and end in Daytona Beach Shores, FL on April 24th, 2020 at the Daytona Beach Shores Public Safety Department. The Tour is a 5-day 270-mile ride that averages approximately 50-55 miles each day at a moderate pace (15-17 mph) and will pass through over 40 law enforcement jurisdictions.
The Tour is a fully supported ride with police escorts provided by the Florida Highway Patrol, Sheriff’s Departments and local Law Enforcement Agencies throughout the state. This is an awareness ride, not a race! Breaks are scheduled at approximately every 12 to 15 miles and the ride is designed to accommodate both inexperienced riders and seasoned cyclists. Last year law enforcement personnel and civilians from around the world participated with over 100 riders completing the entire trek.
The inaugural 1997 Tour was dedicated to Trooper Robert Smith who was killed in the line of duty by a drunk driver. FLTDF has grown in size year after year. As a non-profit charity organization 501(c)(3) we aim to raise awareness for fallen officers and money for the surviving familes of those officers lost in the line of duty. All of our support staff are dedicated volunteers from the Law Enforcement Community who donate their time to help with this cause.
The 2020 Tour will benefit the families of all fallen Florida Law Enforcement Officers that were lost in the line of duty during 2019. Citizens, sponsors, media and various Law Enforcement Agencies throughout the state have supported the ride over the past twenty years with great enthusiasm. The culmination of our efforts concludes each year when we attend the Florida Law Enforcement Officer’s Memorial in Tallahassee, FL to present checks to the surviving family members of our Fallen Heroes.
We sincerely thank you for your support and look forward to seeing you on the ride.
